SOMONAUK EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

“DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS”

The purpose of the Somonauk Education Foundation scholarship is to

support, promote, supplement and enrich the continuing education

of Somonauk graduating seniors.

Students can get to the SEF website through our Somonauk Homepage on the bottom right corner under Somonauk Education Foundation.  Once they reach our site, they can click on the word APPLICATION and they can open a word document and begin. SEF will not be accepting ANY handwritten applications – they will automatically be disqualified.

General Criteria:

1. Applicants must be Somonauk High School senior students demonstrating the desire to further their education at a University, Trade School, or Junior College.

1. • Six “Dollars for Scholars” scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000.00, will be awarded.  Consideration will be given to applicants with the desire to attend the above mentioned institutions.

1. Applications are to be typed, properly signed and dated by both the applicant AND the guidance counselor. (Guidance counselor verifies G.P.A. & class ranking are current.)

1. Applicants are asked to include two letters of recommendation.

• One should be from a person of authority in the high schools attended by the applicant and should describe the applicant’s work habits and integrity.

• One should be from a responsible community (non school) person.  This person should not be related to you and should also be capable of describing your work habits and integrity.

1. Applicants must meet the deadline for submission.  The deadline for submission of this application shall be April 22, 2010.  Please submit the application to the Guidance Office at the Somonauk High School by 1:00 p.m. on that day.

All decisions regarding the selection of the recipients shall be final and conclusive. Payment shall be made directly to the institution you will be attending and is non-renewable

DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

• The scholarship is for the Somonauk High School students only.  All applications are to be properly signed and dated as indicated.
• The application shall be for a student demonstrating financial need and the desire
  • to further their education at a University, Trade School, or Junior College.
• The Scholarship is for $1600 and is non-renewable.  Payment shall be made directly to the student upon receipt of the letter verifying attendance at a University, Trade School, or Junior College.
• Preference shall be given to applicants not receiving other local scholarships in amounts greater than ours.
• The deadline for submission of the application shall be April 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.  Please submit the application to the Guidance office at the Somonauk High School.
• The decisions of the selection committee shall be final.
