SEB MINUTES
September 17, 2009
Meeting was called to order by President Becky Vermeland at 7:03 p.m.
Motion was made to approve the minutes by Shelly Trip, second by Rhonda Morphey; motion approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer, Rhonda Morphey reported that as of 7/31/09 the checkbook balance was $14,012.68
Committee Reports
Sandwich Fair: Jen Stein made the calls this year. Need volunteers to make out calls next year. Getting email ready to send out for next year. There were 314 shifts filled. Not all the spots were filled and had a hard time getting volunteers. It came out to be $18.67 we receive per shift. Need to get more volunteer help.
Market Day: YTD we have made $941.30
Tool Box Kits: Profit made this year was $92.57. Need to check with Dena to see if she would still be interested and get back any feedback or comments.
Rosati’s Pizza: We will continue with doing Rosati’s Days – Letters are still being done. We benefit 20% and last year was $284.76. Will continue with Tuesdays once a month.
Memorial Day BBQ: This year we made $3,987.28 which was down $811.62 from last year. Had more activities to do this year and the painting this year gave back money and the cake walk was a Hugh success. Need more promotion and word out. Norm mentioned that everything went good the front end needed more help but all shifts went well. Faye’s was good and Norm will continue to head up this fundraiser.
Old Business
Freshman Open House: Open house went well.
Teacher Appreciation Week: Gifts between all the teachers there was positive comments and all the teachers loved everything. We collected $685.00. We purchased 24-30 Gift cards to Target, We gave out 24 picture frames and they really loved them. The luncheon with the soups and salad and desserts was a success and we had a lot of help from the parents with preparing these dishes. Need a chairman for next year.
Room Parents/Art Appreciation: Letters went out and they are working on finalizing who volunteers.
Grade School Directory: Susan Cromwell is working on it.
New Business
Mini-Grants: Time to do mini grants again and need to get a committee together to go over. Forms were sent out to teachers and deadline is 9/18/09. Budgeted this year is $12,000. After discussing the committee is Shelly Tripp, Rhonda Morphey, Norm Johnson, Amy White and Crystal Pyle.
Holiday Open House: Set for November 21, 2009 and Kim Gudmunson will chair it again this year. Vendors complained not having any help setting and taking down. We need more volunteers to do this. Suggestion was made to Cub Scouts and Girl scouts help. Need to send out more advertising. Maybe doing a mass email or use the phone messages that go out for the school. We need to discuss with Jim on the email mass.
Fund-Raisers: Need a publicity chairman to take care of newsletter, advertising, ECT. Crystal Pyle has volunteered to chair this.
Other fundraisers recycle printer cartridges – Being Greener. Need to think about other things we can to do to raise money.
Sandwich Fair: Possibly advertising in all the papers. Sherrie Bonoit suggested getting history & acknowledgement to Pat, Berdina and Mike and also having a Thank You to all the volunteers that helped SEB at the fair. We need to start thinking of more ways get more volunteers. Suggestions at conference time having a table set up like we had at back to school night and Freshman Open House.
