Welcome to Somonauk Community Unit School District #432

District #432 is located at the western edge of the Route 34 corridor. The district serves approximately 1000 students in grades PreKindergarten through grade 12. The district has three schools: James R. Wood Elementary School for grades PreKindergarten through fourth grade; Somonauk Middle School, grades fifth through eighth; and Somonauk High School, grades nine through twelve. All schools are housed on a centralized school campus.
By navigating this web site you will be able to learn about the schools, the school activities, the curriculum and current events in District 432.
The Board, administration, educators and support staff in District #432 are committed to our mission, which is A Community That Works Together to Help Each Child Reach His/Her Potential. The District’s strong bond with the community and community groups, is the framework to ensure that we are all working together to ensure that students are prepared with the skills and knowledge that they need to live in the 21st century.
The district strategic plan, The Plan for Teaching and Learning, clearly outlines the goals and activities to continuously improve the educational process for all students. Somonauk CUSD #432 values the time allotted each morning for Professional Learning Community work. Teachers meet in grade levels or in content areas (math, reading, fine arts, etc) to develop curriculum and assessments as well as to analyze student performance. The work on aligning the curriculum in grades K-12 continues to be a focus of work during morning meetings and at early outs and Institute Days.
As we work together during this school year, we look forward to continuing positive relationships with our families and our community to ensure high quality schools. We welcome your assistance, recommendations and comments. If you have questions regarding the schools or district please contact a building principal or me, Dr. Susan Workman, Superintendent of Schools.
